Update

Hello Everyone,

The past week has been a busy one, but the Sunrise of Life team is working hard in Tanzania. The Outreach centre is providing shelter for 8-10 children daily. This past weekend the boys from the outreach centre were given a field trip to the Residential Centre. During their time there the behavior of the boys was assessed. Doing this gives the Sunrise of Life staff a better outlook on which boys are more likely to succeed if moved permanently to the Residential Centre, and which boys will benefit more from spending some more time at the Outreach Centre.

To date 3 kids have transferred from the Outreach to the Residential Center. One of these little boys is Praise, but he only responds to "P". He is only 4 years old, and has spent most of the past year on the streets. Praise brings joy to the children and the staff at the Residential Centre, and hopes to start preschool very soon. His mother is not interested in taking care of him, and his other relatives are to poor to do so.

The chicken project is once again growing at the Residential Centre. Mama Vumi is now in charge of the projects, and it is her job to ensure the project turn in profit. As such, thanks to the generous donations of Faye Cran, we now have over 550 chickens at the centre. All these chickens are broilers, and besides providing the children with good meat, they will be sold at the market. Each chicken is grown for about 6 weeks and then sold. The first batch will be ready by weeks end.

On Friday Sunrise of Life will be hosting the now monthly soccer game for street kids. This is a new type of street outreach and combines the street kid picnic. The last Friday of every month Sunrise of Life hosts the game. Street Kids come from all over the city to play, and the kids living at the Outreach Centre join. This game is made possible from donations from local businesses, including Pepsi, who is donating soccer balls and soda!! We are very excited for Friday, and if possible we will post some pictures.

My internet time has run out, but I will keep updating when possible :)

For the Sol Team
