Sponsorship Update:

Hello SOL Sponsors and SOL Supporters,

As we prepare for the end of school and our summer vacations here in North America, the children of SOL will be nearing their winter vacation. With the change of the season here and in Tanzania we wanted to update everyone on what has gone on at SOL recently.

First of all, Sunrise of Life is extremely grateful to all of the sponsors and donors that make it possible for these awesome children to attend school and have a place to return home to after school.  Currently, Sunrise of Life is supporting 34 children, 30 boys and 4 girls, between the residential center and transition home. In addition to serving these children SOL will shortly begin serving more children of Arusha with our newly opened drop in center. The drop in center will provide needed services to children currently living on the street including food, beds, and resources to leave the street including reuniting them with their families or joining the residential center.

Of the 34 children currently under SOL’s care 20 currently have sponsors.  Sponsors are hugely important in helping the organization provide needed resources for children to attend primary, secondary, and trade school as they work to build a strong foundation for success when it is time to leave the SOL program. As stated we currently have sponsors for 20 children these include; 5 young men currently attending trade school and 3 of whom will be completing their certificates within the year to work in the fields of mechanics and tourism.  The certifications earned will allow these young men to go forward and live an independent life.  We have 6 secondary age students attending English-medium boarding school; 2 will be graduating this September and they are very excited.  SOL has 5 children living at the center and attending English medium school; they are doing very well and most are in the top of their class.  We have 1 young man that has just graduated secondary government school and is taking a short computer course until he attends post-secondary school in January.  The final 3 children are attending government school and they are also doing very well in the top half of their class. If you would like to know more specific information on a particular child please feel free to email Katie Nord, SOL USA Director. We are currently working on developing a new website which will provide easy to access updates on particular children, please look for that in the coming months.

While we are extremely grateful for our current sponsors, there are still currently 14 children who are in need of support. Our sponsorship program is $45 per month provides a child’s food, clothing, and education, along with supporting the maintenance and security of the SOL centers in Arusha. If you would like to help sponsor one of these 14 children or support the overall mission of SOL please email Katie Nord at krnord@stkate.edu.

Thank You,

Sunrise of Life
