Update

Hello All,

The past month has been a busy one and the business at Sunrise of Life continues, both in Canada and in Tanzania. The children were all happy to receive a big Christmas/ New-years meal thanks to the extra donations that were sent in for that occasion. In addition this video was made to reflect back on all that was done in 2013, please view it and share it with your friends and family.

In Tanzania the staff have been very busy preparing the children for school, finding appropriate colleges for the youth, and paying the school fees for this year. Thank-you to all the children sponsors that have sent money to make this large task successful. Currently Sol has children in 3 different Secondary Schools, and 2 different primary schools, so sometimes the logistics of organizing the return to school during the first year of school is challenging and stressful. Thankfully all the children were able to return to school this month.

This past month we also learned the sad news that the gardeners young son past away. The child of the gardener was often at the centre playing with the children, helping with the chores, and partaking of the meals. He will be missed by both the children and the centre. Please remember the gardener in your prayers as the family moves through these hard times. Sunrise of Life was able to give a monetary gift to the family to help cover funeral costs.

The tower for the water tank in the garden has since been completed, and pictures have been sent. With this tank it will now be possible for the centre to grow a garden year around, which will save on funds, as well as promote sustainability for the centre. This is all thanks to the Rotary Club of New Zealand who donated that tank, and the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East who donated funds for the tower.

Sunrise of Life has been working hard to find funds so that we can send the youth to vocational schools. Thanks to the help of Gary Joseph was able to start mechanic school this year, but we are still hoping and praying funds will become available to send Japhet and Aaron to vocational school this year.

The board has also been working hard to get the outreach centre opened in the city of Arusha. in 2012 funds were granted to Sunrise of Life from the Government of Alberta. We are currently in the process of finding a good building in which this centre can be opened. The outreach centre will be the beginning of a bigger drop-in/ drug rehabilitation centre. This centre will give help the the street children of Arusha through outreach, and ongoing care- including home visits.

On the Canada side of Sunrise of Life we have also been very busy. This past Saturday a Black-tie dinner was held in Edmonton to promote Sunrise of Life in the City. Thank-you to all that attended this event. On behalf of the Sunrise of Life team we would ike to thank you for attending our first Black-tie event. The main goal of this event was to build a network of individuals in Edmonton who share a common value of mitigating the effects of child poverty in the world, and we have definitely accomplished jas that, thanks to individuals such as yourself.

The Sunrise of Life Volunteer Team would like to thank-you for being part of this special evening and it is through your support that we can continue to do what we do: providing the street children of Arusha, Tanzania with opportunities to live meaningful lives filled with hope and purpose.

Once again we appreciate your generosity and we look forward to building on this network through your continued support. We hope to see you next year at our Second Annual Black-tie Fundraiser.

Finally we would like to extend appreciation to Kristin from America for dedicating herself to create a better website for Sunrise of Life. We look forward to the Launch.

Everyone please stay tuned for details on the 3rd annual Social Evening and Charity Dinner in Lethbridge Alberta!!

Greetings to all from the Sol Team

-Tom
