Mambo,

Hello All,

Apologies for the lack of updates lately. First off all of the sick boys have recovered or are well on their way to recovery.

Thanks to FURSA (fursa.ca), our partner organization in Ontario, and the children's sponsors all the school fees from the children at Sol centre have been paid, and all the children are in school. On Monday Charmaine and Tom brought Emmanuel, Patrick, Amina, Virginia, John Juilies, and Habibu to Uru secondary school. They were all very excited for this day and are very very thankful for this opportunity that was given to them.

We also have some new children at Sunrise of Life Tupendane. Rasheed, Hassani, Juma and Abraham are all brothers who came to the centre about 3 weeks ago. They came from our neighbouring organization called Upendo, an organization which assists those who are suffering from leprosy. Because of some complications their mother (their only parent involved) had disappeared and because these boys were not affected by Leprosy it was not good that they were staying at Upendo. The Sisters running Upendo first attempted to send the brothers to live with their mother but it became apparent that the mother was not to be found and that the boys were living on the streets of Maji ya Chai. Therefore the sisters came to Sunrise of Life Tupendane to see if we could assist them. Now all the boys have settled nicely into their new environments, and are very thankful to have a place to stay. Thank-you to all our donors for making it possible!!!

Then last week we had another child who came to the centre in a desperate situation. Kelvin had lived at the centre about 5 years ago when things were still running some-what smoothly. When things got bad he went back to the streets to beg, and hope for  a better future (as many children at the centre did at that time). Thereafter he ended up in Dar es Salaam and came into contact with a centre there. For complicated reasons the centre also could no longer support Kelvin so he came back to the Kilimanjaro region to look for a better life. He lived with his Babu (Grandfather) and looked for odd jobs around his village. With the money he made from these jobs he paid for his Primary 5 and 6 schooling. But things were not well at this Grandfathers home either as his Grandfather could not support him. Upon hearing that there might be a chance for him to gain a better future at Sunrise of Life he decided to give it a try. He came to the centre last week and explained his situation to Neema, the centre manager. After some discussion it was decided that because of his dedication and good marks in school he could live at Sol centre. We are in the process of getting him into the primary school near to the centre. Kelvin goes into standard 7 this year and next year into secondary school. If any wish to sponsor Kelvin to Boarding school next year please contact us at sunriseoflife.sol@gmail.com.

We are also happy to announce that Sunrise of Life Tupendane- Support for Street Children is registered in Tanzania!!

Finally all the children are in school, and the strain can be seen on our budget. Please continue to support this cause, and to help these children. We can stretch our budget to the end of February, but to go further we need NEED your support. Thank-you to all for your amazing support so far!!!

Regards

-Tom
