Mambo! (Hows it going?)
Hello Again,
It has been a while since we have posted last and some exciting things have happened during that time. Thanks to your generous donations the monthly food fee ($400.00 USD) has been sent up until this moment. Currently we have enough funds to bring us to the end of March and are hoping for continual funds so the children will not go hungry.
Several of the bigger boys who are done Form 4 (equivalent to grade 12) have been ordered to leave CCF as the management does not see any use in caring for teenagers who are not in school. As stated before Management has no interest in the wellbeing of the children. This created some hassle as they did not know where to go and what steps to take next. This is a very big challenge for the boys as there are no opportunities for part time jobs and usually further education is needed for a person to get a job in Tanzania. A couple of the boys decided that they would rent a room in a compound and thankfully some wonderful people have been able to support them in their endeavours. In the mean-time they have achieved sponsors to pay for a computer course for them and they are really enjoying the course so far.
In other exciting news, the non-profit we made reference to in the last blog has successfully been started. We were able to be incorporated under the Alberta government. Sunrise of Life (SOL) is currently in existence and is an organization guided towards saving the lives of children, both young and old. Currently we are working on getting the bank account started and as it looks at the moment we should have that up and running within two weeks. After that we hope to do some more fundraising so if anyone has any ideas we would love to hear them!! We are also working very hard on the website and that should be completed very soon (A big thanks to Ashley Summers), we will keep you updated.
